The idea of food as art has always been appealing to me. I have experimented with various mixed media to re-create the textures and colours of dripping ice creams, melting popsicles, and thickly-iced cakes. While I love the decadent imagery of food, I am also drawn to the simplicity of more minimalist design. My current work is influenced by both of these elements; hydrocal (a strong plaster-like compound with a creamy matte finish) is poured into moulds to make replicas of food and other objects.

Juxtaposing minimalist design and colour with bold images and rich textures, my work explores the dichotomy between the inner worlds of our adult and childhood minds. The method attempts to capture an element of childhood nostalgia in sculpture, and asks us to imagine what might happen if we allow ourselves space for quiet and boredom again.
